Children will love this snowflake math game where they will identify the number and count snowflakes to cover the mat snow bears mat. This winter math activities is a fun way to reinforce subitizing and counting skills. For this counting activities for kindergarten, just grab mini eraser or play dough to work with the winter math mats. Another option for this number games for kindergarten is you can print these mats 4 to a page to create mini dry erase task cards too.

Counting games for kindergarten
To prepare
- Download the activity cards below
- Print in color or black and white
- Cut the mats out.
- Prepare some pom poms with tongs on each table OR snowflake mini erasers.
Counting activities for kindergarten
- Students will be working on their cards in a group. You can use number magnetic toys or you could write with a dry erase marker the number onto the cloud.
- They then grab a tong, and place that many snowflake mini erasers on the snow bear mat.
- Then they could also make dough balls to show the number (as an extension activity).
- I usually check their work as I go around the class.
Print two sets of these cards and laminate them for durability. Print any set you wish according to the needs of your group of students.
Snowflake math
Use these cards to help kids develop subitizing and fine motor skills and their number knowledge. Kids need to master their counting and number identification skills as it is a critical component to prepare them for more complex reasoning and mathematic skills.
Introduce the mats and show the students how to use tongs or mini erasers to show their numbers. You could possibly have your pre-schoolers work on easier numbers by counting 1 to 5 and the kindergarteners to work on counting 1 to 10. A great way to work on these cards is to create a competition where the kids have to complete all the cards in a group.
