Simply print the snowman sums sheets and laminate, or use a dry-erase pocket, to make it durable. Cut out the numbered snowmen cards and the addition and/or subtraction mats. Provide counters such as pompoms(I like these because it reminds me of snowballs) or mini erasers with a snow theme if you have it. Grab the dry-erase marker and you are all set!
Pick a snowman number card and write that number in the first circle on the sums mat. Then pick another number card and write it in the second circle.

Remember: When using the subtracting sums mat, remind the child to add the biggest number first. So, pick both number cards at the same time. Decide which number is the biggest, then write it in the first circle, the smaller number goes on the second circle.
Count out the number of pompoms in the first circle, then take away the second number of pompoms to get the answer. Write it in the last circle as your answer.
Snowman Math
This sums activity can be done independently by a child, or if it is a guided activity, perhaps at first, make use of the opportunity to expand basic mathematical vocabulary by using phrases often. Eg. “More, less, count on( add), subtract(take away), equals(all together) etc.
