Animal activities for kids
Print your preferred set of wild animal puppets. There is a color-in-yourself set with the 5 animals- bear, giraffe, elephant, monkey and tiger. The same animals are available in the full-color version.
Ise crayons, markers, or colored pencils to color and cut the animals and secure it with a piece of sticky tape. The puppets are designed to fit small fingers(as you can see below, it barely fits my adult fingers).
TIP: you can also attach these puppets to wooden pegs/clothesline pins to make it stand on its own. It could be used as props in a sensory bin perhaps?
Animal activities for preschoolers
Use the animal puppets on the fingers to make up stories about wild animals. Or pair with a Zoo-themed book to retell the story. Empathy and life lessons are great to bring across in this manner too.
Sing wild animal-related songs(We are going to the Zoo) or say nursery rhymes, for instance:
“The yellow giraffe is tall as can be. His lunch is a bunch of leaves off a tree. He has a very long neck and his legs are long too. And he can run faster than I can, too!”
Or, “A big, grey elephant I went to see He had four legs and he was bigger than me He had two ears so big and round And one long trunk that made a sound EEEEEEEEE!”
