Free Printable Books for Beginning Readers

Start out by printing in the black and white pages of these free farm printables. The blackline versions are not only great for saving you on printer ink costs, but allow students to decorate their books.

Next, using scissors carefully cut each page in half. Stack the pages up, with the cover on top, and staple along the left edge to make your farm flip book.

Life on the Farm Emergent Reader

Students can colour their very own farm emergent reader with crayons, markers, or colored pencils. Finally, have your student write their name in the space indicated on the cover. It’s time for kids to read the pages in their fun farm reader which includes the following pages:

  • Life on the Farm (There is a boy on a tractor, next to hay bales and pumpkins, plowing the fields. You can see the barn and silo in the background)
  • We plow the fields on the farm.
  • We milk the cow on the farm (girl in overalls next to a large cow)
  • We feed the horses on the farm (boy in overalls next to pony, he has a basket full of carrots)
  • We wash the pig on the farm (pig is in large bathtub of soapy water)
  • We brush the goat on the farm (boy has on a straw hat and boots and is petting the happy goat)
  • We feed the chickens on the farm (girl is tossing grain or corn from a bucket or pail to a chicken)
