To try this fun apple science activity all you need are a few simple materials you probably already have at home:

~ 1/4 cup baking soda (give or take)
~ 2 squirts dish soap
~ 1/4 cup distilled white vinegar
pipette or dropper (optional)
food coloring (optional)

The first step is to core the apple. Do not core all the way through – you want to leave the bottom of the apple intact. Put the apple on the plate or tray.

Fill the core of the apple with baking soda. There is no exact measurement, but just make sure you don’t fill up the hole all the way. Leave some room for the vinegar.
