Dr Seuss Craft

Dr. Seuss is one of the most amazing authors in the world, most can agree. Dr. Seuss books are purely magical and surely never a dull moment. In the book The Lorax, one of the whimsical parts are the truffula trees. Since this is our favorite part, we thought what better way to honor them than by making them into bookmarks to keep our spot in our favorite books. So that is where this Dr Seuss Craft of the Truffula Bookmark Craft came to be and it was so much fun to make!

We love bookmarks in our house. The best kind are always homemade. We’ve made many before but these may be my favorite. With a few simple craft supplies, you too can make these fun and colorful bookmarks.

We started by cutting out circles from the cardstock. We used the bottom of a small flower pot to trace the circle. We then cut it out.

We scribbled on the popsicle sticks to make the yellow and black stripes.Next glue the circle cardstock onto the top of the popsicle stick.

To prepare the tissue paper, we took about 6×6 square pieces and tore up shreds. Then we squirted lines of glue onto the cardstock and pressed the tissue paper onto the glued cardstock.

After letting the glue dry, the bookmarks are ready to be used or gifted.

There are benefits besides just strengthening creativity and adding an activity to a classic book. This bookmark craft can help strengthen fine motor skills, scissor skills and other school supply practices.

Fine motor skills can be strengthened by tearing the tissue paper. Tissue paper, even though it is thin, is not super easy to rip therefore it can strengthen muscles in the hands that will help kids with skills later in life like tying shoes, zipping a zipper, and using a pencil.
