Fish Craft for Kids

All you need are a few simple supplies to make this project:

  • printed fish template (below)
  • white or blue paper plate
  • scissors
  • blue yarn
  • hole punch
  • crayons, markers, or colored pencils

Carefully use scissors to cut the insdie of the paper plate out leaving a 2-3″ border.

Use a hole punch to make punches ever 2 inhes or so around the inner circle. Now grab yarn and start weaving backand forth. You can use a plastic tapestry needle or without. This is such a great fine motor activity that is FUN too.

Continue sewing the yarn back and forth until you have a pretty full tank. You want your aquarium to be mostly blue but with some light to see the cool effect.

HINT: We used two different colors of blue yarn to get more dimmension.

If you haven’t done so already, print the fish printable template below. Use crayons, markers or colored pencils to colour the fish any color you like. Carefully cut the fish out.

  • set your printer to print at 75% to makethe fish smaller to get more in your aquarium
  • use a larger plate
  • use a colored plate
  • decorate your fish bowl
  • paint your fish bowl
  • cut the top part off the aquarium to make it a u shape bowl
  • the possibilities are endless
