To prepare this hand-on initial sounds activity all you need are:
- A4 paper
- Printer
- Scissors
- laminator
- clothespins to mark answers
Print as many sets as you need for the number of students in your class ā you could also print these cards in greyscale (choose this option before you print them out).
Beginning sounds activities
Need an engaging beginning sounds activity this August? These fun puzzle cards will get kids to identify the letter shown on the dog card, then find the matching beginning sound and cllcipping it on the same card. Firstly, have the beginning sounds cards in a deck and then spread the pegs out so kids know what to do next.The kids will then choose a letter card, they identify the letter on it ābā and theĀ start sounding out the beginning sounds on the card. Once they find it, they take a peg and clip the beginning sound. They continue this until all their cards are done. Another way you could play this game is print it out in greyscale with two or three pages on one sheet, then tell the kids to cut and paste the cards into their notebooks.
