Fathers Day Art
We love making new and beautiful crafts! It’s a good thing since I have 6 kids who are all making Fathers Day Crafts for Daddy year after year and I don’t like the idea of giving him the same craft again. This year, I decided to combine an art lesson on a famous artists with a pretty and unique Fathers Day Art project. If you are unfamiliar with Andy Warhol, he was one of the most famous American artists of the latter half of the 20th century. His unusual pop art combined common items like Campbells soup with his own personal twist. He would represent the item several times on his artwork, each time with a different bold, contrasting color scheme.
Kids especially seem to enjoy his artwork as it is filled with bright, bold yellow, orange, blue, red, green, purple, and more colors combined with common items they can actually figure out. These Fathers Day Art Ideas I wanted kids to learn about this well known artists while making a truly unique and beautiful Fathers Day arts and crafts. And I think we nailed it. This project that uses a convenient fathers day printable is easy-to-make, fun-to-complete, and something unique and memorable too!

Printable Fathers Day Craft
Whether you are a teacher, homeschooler, parent, grandparent, nanny, or other caregiver – you will love these fun to make Fathers Day craft ideas! Now print the black and white sheets that match your Dad the best. I HIGHLY suggest printing on cardstock so your paper holds up well to the watercolor paints, but it can be done on plain printer paper like we did. Now pick which template you like best for this art project.
Does he wear ties to work? Or perhaps he enjoys lawn work like using a lawn mower to keep his grass looking good? Is he an avid coffee drinker or perhaps you just want to celebrate the best dad ever with a trophy or ribbon. You could also choose the ball cap or golf club if that fits your unique Dad better. You decide which page to use.

First step is to color the image in a bright, bold color. Now color the same image in the next square in a very different striking color. Continue coloring the remining images in all different colors. We choose to use oil pastels because of their vibrant color, but crayons would work well too. You DONT want to use washable markers as it will bleed in the next step. And although that looks pretty for sunrise pictures and other types of art projects, for this one we want to keep the colors distinctly different.

Now use watercolor paint to paint in the space in the square around the image in a contrasting bold color.

Now repeat with the other squares making sure that each square is a different bold color. Unless your print the pages on cardstock (which is a great option if you have it handy!) you will want to encourage your toddler, preschool, pre k, kindergarten, and first grade students to use as little water as they can when painting or their paper may get soggy.
Isn’t that gorgeous? This is such a fun way to celebrate dad as you wish him Happy Fathers Day with a really beautiful piece of art he will cherish for years to come. When it dries you can frame it or trim off the edges and put dark cardstock behind it to make it pop. This is such a fun gift for Father’s Day!
